I know a lot of people have done journals, but I wanted to put this out.
I was not a huge fan of Michael Jackson.
I loved his work. His songs still blow me away. THe man was a God. But I was never the person who worshiped his feet.
I will admit that I was one of those people. One of those who made the jokes and the comments about him and children. I won't lie. Deep down, I'm a nasty, cynical person who bites at everything.
I did not joke when I heard he was gone. His death was too, much, to be turned into a joke.
For the last 12 days, my mind has been, odd. Part me of me unhappy, part of me not caring, that the man we had lived with for so long was around.
Today, I started to watch my recording of his memorial. I have so far got up to the reading by the director of the Motown Records, just after the baseball story. I had been crying from the moment his coffin was wheeled on.
American's believe in closure. An end to the book. I generally don't. I knew he was gone.
But for the first time ever, I felt like, this was it. The end of what we knew.
Because I know that tommorow, Wednesday 8th July 2009, will be the first time without Jackson. Yes, the stories will run, about his life, his debts, his children. In theory, Michael Jackson will never die. His music will go on, his children will keep his name going for many years. But today, this was it. My entire life had been filled with Michael Jackson. In the background, there he was. Now, he's gone.
There will be no "Elvis Sightings" of him.
The Kind is Dead. Long Live the King. There will most likely, never be another like him. I wish I had bought O2 Tickets to try and see him one last time. For now, until I reach that world beyond this, where no doubt Jacko entered like he did the bar in the "Smooth Criminal" video, I will have his music and albums, to remind me that, firstly, we have lost a truely great and misunderstood man.
And secondly, evil cynical English men have a heart somewhere, deep down, and beg the world to forgive what the rest of him has done.
